F.W. Tamblyn's Home Instructor in Penmanship

F.W. Tamblyn, a calligraphy teacher, came to Kansas City and founded the Tamblyn Studio in 1895. His speciality was mail order penmanship and engrossing lessons. He wrote the books (The Tamblyn System of Business Writing and F.W. Tamblyn's Home Instructor in Penmanship) and sold them along with supplies and lesson plans. Tamblyn also lettered and illuminated awards, designed certificates and personalized them.

We try our best to provide a properly adjusted holder for your use.

The flanges of our pens are fashioned from equipment made in the

early 1900's to create a flange that accepts the pen nib easily. Each flange is hand adjusted to fit specific nib sizes.

In 1933, Stephen A. Ziller, graduate from the Zanerian College, came to work for  FW Tamblyn and in 1936 purchased the business from him. Carrying on the tradition of home study, Ziller wrote the following five calligraphy books designed for teaching yourself calligraphy

Instruction Copperplate and Spencerian DVDs
